Location
The vineyards and the winery, as well as the family house, all are in the heart of the hilly valley of Mezzane, a small town just few miles east of Verona, which has been able to keep its rural identity untouched for centuries.
The territory surrounding Verona – city with a millenary history – extends over rolling hills that gradually give way to the Alps to the north and the beautiful Lake Garda to the west. This very special combination of geographic position and microclimate has always stimulated the historical, artistic and productive development in this area.
The oenological vocation of these lands has been famous since Roman times; from that far to nowadays, the intricate mosaic of vineyards composing the landscape did not stop to enchant travelers and to give extraordinary wines to the palates, like the well-known Amarone.
Introduction
Working this ground and producing wine have been a vocation of Provolo’s family since 1927.
For three generations, day after day, harvest after harvest, Provolo’s family has been learning to know the vine and its delicate balance with the surrounding environment. From father to son never forcing the pace and the nature, they learnt to look after the work on the ground and in the cellar with care and attention.
Since the birth of the first wine the family’s inherited knowledge has been transferred through the generations, and the consciousness that the right balance among complexity, structure and longevity is a quality that well overcomes other numbers.
Sharing a glass of wine is the first and most ancient gesture of host of our peasant culture, for that reason the doors of our cellar will always be open if you want to feel the seriousness and the passion of our work.
